Sources in the army headquarters said the SOP revision related to beefing up security along the LoC and the rules of joint patrolling by the army and the BSF. Accompanied by northern command and Chinar Corps commanders, Rawat was briefed by formation commanders on the security situation on the border and measures initiated to strengthen it, besides overall operational and logistical preparedness. On Monday morning, Pakistani troops allegedly crossed the LoC, infiltrated 200 metres into Indian territory and ambushed a patrol party, killing two soldiers before mutilating them. "The attack on the Indian patrol team yesterday was a well-planned operation," a security officer said. During his interaction with the troops, army chief Rawat today assured them that the entire nation stood behind the soldiers.
