By Skandha GunasekaraPrisoners who are to be released would be subject to 14 days home quarantine upon release monitored by local authorities, The Morning learnt. Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya said that the area police and Medical Officer of Health (MOH) would be notified of any released prisoners in their area for monitoring purposes. “We will notify the relevant police station as well as the MOH in the area when a prisoner is released and sent home so that they can monitor their 14-day home quarantine proceedings.”He said that it would be compulsory for all prisoners to follow home quarantine protocol upon release. “We will issue a notice to each individual who is released from prison, instructing them to follow home quarantine procedures for a period of 14 days.”
