Enyioha Opara and Umar MuhammedA non-governmental organisation, Civil Society-Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria, has asked the Niger State government to release over N137m budgeted for nutrition in the state. The Executive Secretary, CS-SUNN, Beatrice Eluaka, in an interview with Saturday PUNCH on Friday alleged that in 2017, about N90m was also budgeted for nutrition but no funds were released by the government. Eluaka said the burden of malnutrition in the state was so huge when compared with nutrition allocations that were not released by the state government. She alleged, “The Niger State government budgeted the sum of N89,218,166 for nutrition in 2017, but no releases were made. CISLAC’s Programme Manager, Mrs Chioma Kanu, said this in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, at the end of round-table discussion on budgeting for nutrition.
