Reject party that ex-MIC members are launching, Sabah Indians told - Nation

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's tiny Indian community has been urged to reject race-based party ahead of the launching of an Indian party in the state spearheaded by former MIC party members on Sunday. A former Sabah MIC secretary, Ron Ganasegaran, said the plan by former Sabah MIC leaders and members was unnecessary as the community's needs could be addressed by any of the multi-racial parties in the state. Ganasegaran, who was Sabah MIC secretary for three terms from 1999 to 2008, said an Indian party would only serve the interest of the few who were looking for political patronage and personal benefit. "Any party can help Indians in Sabah," said Ganasegaran. Sabah MIC chairman Datuk V.Jothi, who quit MIC recently, is expected to launch a new race-based party on Sunday.
