China's envoy to Malaysia hopeful of ECRL revival - Nation

BATU GAJAH: China remains optimistic that the shelved East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project will be revived, and is hoping for a win-win solution that will benefit both parties. China's envoy to Malaysia, Bai Tian, said both governments have been talking to each other about the 688km rail transport connection proposed to run from Port Klang, Selangor to Pengkalan Kubor, Kelantan. According to Bai Tian, the ECRL would benefit Malaysians as it would provide an affordable means of transport. "In today's world, many countries are developing their rail transportation system, and this is also true for Malaysia," he said. However, the project was put on hold after Pakatan Harapan's victory in the 14th General Election on May 9.
