Sudden surge: Rory McIlroy produced a couple of incredible birdies towards the end of the third round, to lie second on Saturday. more-inAmerican Patrick Reed seized a three-stroke lead after Saturday’s third round of the Masters, firing a five-under 67 at the rain-softened Augusta National. McIlroy eagled the par-5 eighth to match Reed for the lead briefly at 9-under, but that lit a fire under Reed, who birdied the eighth, ninth and 10th holes to surge ahead alone again. The 14-time Major winner fired a level-par 72 to stand on 4-over 220 after 54 holes in his first Major championship since 2015.
