It’s been a good start of the week for billionaire Reed Hastings. Hastings, who owns nearly 12 million shares (a nearly 3% stake) saw his net worth jump by more than a quarter of a billion dollars, from $1.91 billion late Monday to $2.17 billion in less than 24 hours. In addition to Hasting’s net worth reaching a record high, Netflix hit another milestone. Last Thursday, the Television Academy nominated 27 Netflix original programs with 91 Emmy nominations, a sizable increase from last year’s 54. Reed Hastings co-founded Netflix with software executive Marc Randolph in 1997, initially as a way to offer online movie rentals.
