Redefining youth age will attract interest of target group to join organisations, says Sabah minister - Nation

KOTA KINABALU: The move to lower the age bracket for youths from 40 to 30 will spark more interest from this target group to be involved in youth clubs and organisations. Sabah Rural Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick (pic) said this in support of the Dewan Rakyat's approval of the Youth Organisations and Youth Development Act (Amendment) which defines youth to be those up to 30 years old, compared with the previous 40. He said it was important for the younger generation to be actively included in organisations as they would be the country's future leaders. He expressed confidence that Sabah Youth and Sports Minister, Ginger Phoong Jin Zhe will be able to push the younger generation to become frontliners of youth activities after the amendment. "The youngsters should also step up in youth organisations to show that they are not leaders of the future, but the leaders of today," he added.
