SENATE President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto on Saturday proposed a “digital map” for government projects and programs, including livestreaming of big-ticket public works projects that would be implemented in 2020. “Projects should be geo-tagged, and there should be an app in which the status of a project is just a click away,” Recto said. Recto stressed that if “remote monitoring” was being used by owners of houses being built, then the same could be done in major government infrastructure projects. He said if CCTV footage could lead to the capture of criminals, “so can it capture delays in construction.”“Raw live video is the best feedback. The senator added that “remote monitoring” of government projects was not a new idea as then-Buget Secretary Benjamin Diokno launched one three years ago.
