Soul sensation Tree, hip hop heavyweight Kings, and singer-songwriter Lepani lead the way among the finalists for the 2021 Pacific Music Awards. Following the release of her self-produced debut album Mrs Tree, South Aucklander Katerina Manu (aka Tree) was nominated for four awards - Best Pacific Female Artist, Best Pacific Language, Best Pacific Music Video for Afio Ane Loa, and Best Pacific Music Album. No stranger to the Pacific Music Awards, Tāmaki Makaurau-based Lou’ana, whow as nominated for three awards at the 2020 ceremony, is nominated for three awards again this time around – Best Pacific Female Artist, Best Pacific Soul/R&B Artist, and Best Pacific Music Album – on the back of her debut album Moonlight Madness. Inclusion in the Best Pacific Soul/R&B Artist, Best Producer and Best Pacific Music Album categories follow his nomination last year for Best Soul/R&B Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards. “With the largest number of submissions in the history of Pacific Music Awards received this year, we acknowledge this bodes well for our Pacific music community and also the Aotearoa New Zealand Music industry,” she said.
