Ratchanok clears them all, getting BWF’s nod to compete in Rio Games

After all problems have been cleared, Ratchanok will go on training in final preparation for the Rio Games and become an Olympic medal hope of Thailand. BADMINTONRumours had it many days ago that former world champion Ratchanok, the first Thai shuttler to be No.1 in the BWF world rankings, found positive to a banned substance and since then an air of doubts has increasingly loomed over the Thai sports if Ratchanok can make it to Rio.According to the world's badminton-governing body BWF, during the hearing, conducted by video conference, the athlete's medical background and records of treatment, were submitted to the Panel. This evidence, together with testimony from an expert witness, established to the satisfaction of the Panel that the substance administered on May 13, 2016, before the competition, was part of ongoing medical treatment of the athlete and that the route of administration of the substance was intra-tendinous.The Panel concluded that because the route of administration of the substance in the medical treatment process was intra-tendinous - an authorised administration route - no violation of the regulations was committed.Ratchanok and the Badminton Association of Thailand were notified on July 10 and she was provisionally suspended on July 13 of the BWF Anti-Doping Regulations, at which point an expedited hearing process was started. The BAT held a press conference at the Anoma Grand Bangkok Hotel on Monday at 9am, the same time which the BWF has released its news release about Ratchanok's case.
