The South Rangitata reserve land area is home to 113 fishing huts, leased by residents, as well as a popular motor camp. The Rangitata Huts, as they are more commonly known as, is a 9.1 hectare area of land close to where the Rangitata River meets the Pacific Ocean. Rachael Comer/Stuff The Rangitata Huts is a busy place at Christmas and New Year. Past the first lot of baches, sandwiched on both sides by huts is the Rangitata Motor Camp.
