DETROIT — It’s been nearly two years since José Leclerc has appeared in a major league game. Leclerc last pitched in the majors on July 26, 2020, when he suffered a torn teres major muscle in the back of his shoulder. He then suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow during spring training of 2021. Leclerc had a 5.00 ERA in nine innings during a rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. He walked two in an inning while pitching for Round Rock on Thursday and has allowed nine walks in his five innings of rehab to this point.
