None of these ideas make intuitive sense and the government has done a poor job of explaining why the cuts are being made. Take the cuts to library service, which provide inter-library loans and administrative services to libraries in small communities. The Ford government is also eliminating $4.7 million in support for an organization that aims to plant 50 million trees. The regional funds might do some good, but when it comes to helping businesses, the Ford government has already done a bang-up job. It’s an absurd argument, but why feed the perception with inconsequential cuts that do little to balance the budget?
