Ramjas: Protests at Ramjas college continue

NEW DELHI: Protests at Ramjas continued on Wednesday when students weren't allowed to leave the campus, as alleged by a student inside the campus. "We are stopped at the canteen building by the protesting DUSU members and the police," said a student. Some students alleged that they were beaten up by the DUSU members. While the protests continued inside, several members of AISA tried entering the campus but were stopped by the police who tried detainingABVP/DUSU members, many of whom had assembled outside the gate of the college and the situation escalated between AISA and ABVP members and violence broke out.Police is still trying to detain students but the sloganeering has continued and it seems that matters may escalate if the groups are not stopped and the situation doesn't seem to be diffusing. All attempts made by the Police have turned futile as DUSU/ABVP people are involved in a violent tussle with members of AISA.The protests on Wednesday was called in response to the protest by ABVP/DUSU on Tuesday at Ramjas where JNU student Umar Khalid was not allowed to attend an event. Several Ramjas students had alleged that they, along with teachers were heckled by the mob.
