BENGALURU: Development minister KJ George on Wednesday said that the government will build 100 more pedestrian skywalks in different parts of the city. "Tenders have been floated to build skywalks at strategic locations in the city and this will go a long way in helping pedestrians to cross roads safely at busy junctions. BBMP will also benefit from the move as they will be getting revenue in the form of advertisement tax on these structures," he added.George made this announcement after inaugurating a sky walk with life facility near the Sir M Visvesvaraya College in Konena Agrahara ward near Murgesh Palya in East Bengaluru The sky walk has been built at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore in association with the Pioneer Publicity Corporation Pvt Ltd. The sky walk has two lifts which together can carry 16 people at a time.George further said that there are nine skywalks in the city which public are using already. "Construction of seven skywalks is in the final stages and 10 are ready for inauguration," he added.
