Ramdhari Singh Diwakar awarded IFFCO's 'Shri Lal Shukla Smiriti Sahitya Samman' for writings on rural India


Indian fertilizer giant IFFCO has honoured noted Hindi writer Ramdhari Singh Diwakar with 'Shri Lal Shukla Smiriti Sahitya Samman' of 2018. The award is given to an author who brings rural India to life in Hindi writing. Mridula Garg, Murli Manohar Prasad Singh, Prof. Rajendra Kumar, Ibbar Rabbi and Dr Dinesh Kumar Shukla were other members of the jury. He said that this prestigious award is given annually to a writer whose works show the problems, aspirations and struggles of rural and agricultural life in India. Gillian Wright, who translated Shukla's 1968 novel "Raag Darbari", said Diwakar's works show the true village of India.
