The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Afzal Hossain, said Matihar police OC Humayan Kabir. Acting on a tip-off, a police unit led by Assistant Commissioner Shushanta Kumar raided Hossain's home around 2am on Monday at the Satbarhia Parha in Dashbarhi Village, he said. "Afzal (Hossain) barged out of his house with a sharp weapon and slashed at policemen, forcing them to open fire. He died while being taken to the hospital," OC Kabir told bdnews24.com. Senior police officer Kumar and Constables 'Naeem', 'Sujan' and 'Fatema' are being treated at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with cut wounds, he added.
