Actor Rajinikanth on Sunday announced that he would not be contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. His "Rajini Makkal Mandram" will not offer support to any political party. In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, I would urge people to introspect and vote for whichever party they think can form a stable government at the centre as well as solve Tamil Nadu's water crisis,” he said. He emphasised that there should be no use of the Rajini Makkal Mandram's flags or logos during campaigns for the upcoming elections by anyone. Rajini Makkal Mandram had been set up as a launch vehicle for his proposed political party at the beginning of 2018 and was aimed at bringing together all his registered and unregistered fan clubs.
