NewsRailway technical unions have decided to end their 48-hour token strike at 4.00pm today (31). The strike was launched at 4.00pm on Tuesday (29) by railway technical staff over several demands including a salary hike. Sri Lanka Railways says that the strike did cause delays to train services but only a few trains were cancelled. The Railways Department also lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) claiming striking workers had allegedly caused damage to some railway property, including engines during the strike.
