Driving in front of the Dunedin Railway Station will be a thing of the past from next week. From next Wednesday, February 5, most vehicles will no longer be able to access the station’s frontage. The work was expected to take about a week, during which time pedestrian access would be restricted in some areas. There would be six mobility and short-term drop-off/pick up parks at either end of the station, and cyclists would be able to ride through. The pedestrian mall concept was trialled twice, and feedback and consultation indicated strong support for the change, Mr Poulsen said.
