A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said the fire's prominent location, near the intersection of State Highway 1 and Wai-Iti Rd, in Seaview, meant many people spotted it. KiwiRail had been notified about the incident and police had been advised as it was suspected the fire may have been deliberately lit, the spokesperson said.
