Dr. Oburu Odinga, East African Legislative Assembly member, and brother to ODM party leader Raila Odinga has expressed interest in the Siaya Senatorial seat. Elijah Oburu is eyeing the Kisumu central Parliamentary seat while 50-year-old Jaoko Oburu is eyeing the Bondo Parliamentary seat, a position previously held by his father. Currently serving as the County executive committee member for Roads and public works, Jaoko confirmed that he had the blessing of his uncle Raila. The Odinga family has political ambitions as most of them have eyes set on different positions. Ruth Odinga who was the former Kisumu deputy governor announced her bid for the Kisumu gubernatorial seat on February 18, 2021.
