Raila was referring to Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery's warning on bloggers spreading hate messages on social media. Nkaissery warned on Tuesday that bloggers spreading hate messages on social media could trigger election-related violence in the run-up to 2017 polls. Read: Nkaissery warns against hate on social media The Cord chief said the proposal to regulate social media is not the correct way to do things adding "people should be allowed to speak freely even in rallies". Cord leader Raila Odinga has accused the government of curtailing the media's freedom of speech.
