PETALING JAYA: A bankruptcy notice has been served on PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli (pic) over his failure to settle RM306,999.17 in damages and costs related to a defamation suit involving the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC). The notice, which appeared in a local Malay daily, stated that NFC and its executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail had obtained a bankruptcy notice against Rafizi at the Shah Alam High Court. The notice, dated July 13 and effected by an order dated Sept 12, stated that Rafizi could file an objection against the proceedings within seven days from the receipt of the notice. Rafizi was also ordered by the court to pay RM100,000 for legal costs in relation to the proceedings. In August, Rafizi claimed to have collected more than RM1.5mil from public donations to pay for the NFC suit.
