Weak earthquake detected in Tongod, Sabah - Nation


KUALA LUMPUR: A weak earthquake, measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale, was detected 35km northeast of Tongod, Sabah, at 8.25 am Sunday. The Malaysian Meteorological Department, in a statement Sunday, said the quake could probably be felt in areas surrounding Tongod and Beluran, Sabah. It also said a moderate earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale, was detected in Mindanao, Philippines, 752km north-east of Kinabatangan, Sabah. However, the quake that detected at 4.47am did not pose a tsunami threat, it said.
