KUCHING (Bernama): A 26-year-old man from Batu Kawa, who was rabies encephalitis positive, has died at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here, according to reports. It said the victim, identified as Jackson Yap Foh Fong, died at about 10am Friday (May 31) while receiving treatment at the hospital. This brings the death toll to 17 out of 18 infections reported since the outbreak of the disease was declared in Sarawak in June 2017. However, there has been no official statement from the Health Ministry on the latest death. “Further checks showed that the victim was experiencing confusion and hydrophobia, had difficulty swallowing and his body muscles were weak,” he said.
