RAB sources told the Dhaka Tribune that this specific group of JMB men was planning to form a medical unit led by Akbar so that JMB members could receive emergency treatment without going to a medical facility. “Firearms, ammo, improvised explosives and bomb-making materials were found during the drive conducted at the JMB training centre,” the RAB director said. According to RAB sources, the latest arrests were possible after two suspects – Kamruzzaman and Rashed Gazi – were picked up from Uttara and informed the RAB about their recruiter and handler Hasan. Those arrested include 27-year-old Mahmudul Hasan, who allegedly heads the southern unit of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh. RAB’s legal and media wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan told reporters that Hasan was the JMB’s southern unit Ameer and Akbar was an active member of Rangpur JMB.
