Tarique, the Senior Vice-Chairman of the party, has been sentenced to seven years in jail and fined Tk 200 million for laundering money. Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the leaders discussed the verdict, the next course of legal action and the situation in Bangladesh. The BNP leaders met at Khaleda’s political office in Gulshan on Thursday night. He said the party will brief the media on the decisions taken in the meeting at its Naya Paltan headquarters at 11am on Friday. His business associate and friend Giasuddin-Al-Mamun has been handed down the same penalty.
