Queensland police officer receives suspended jail sentence for leaking woman's details to violent ex-husband


The Queensland senior constable used a police database to obtain the personal details of a domestic abuse victim and then joked when he sent her address to her violent former husband. On Monday, more than five years after sending that message, Neil Glen Punchard pleaded guilty to nine counts of computer hacking. In 2016, police declined to bring criminal charges against Punchard. Punchard might face renewed disciplinary action from the Queensland Police Service because of the criminal conviction. Julie said after the hearing she was grateful Punchard received a conviction and jail term.
