Quake anniversary service: Where and when it's happening

Photo: Martin HunterPreparations are well under way to mark the ninth anniversary of the February 22, 2011, earthquake with a public civic service in Christchurch on Saturday. The service will begin at 12.30pm on February 22 at the north bank of the Canterbury Earthquake National Memorial site on the corner of Montreal St and Cambridge Tce. At the end of the minute’s silence, a poem will be read by members of the Quake Families Trust. At the end of the service people will be invited to cross to the south side of the earthquake memorial and pay their respects at the Memorial Wall. Those planning to attend the service should arrive at the memorial site by 12.20pm.
