Richard Robert Tranter was found guilty of manslaughter in the High Court in Christchurch. A man who killed another motorist when driving at 180kmh in suburban Christchurch after drinking has been found guilty of manslaughter. On the first day of the trial, Tranter pleaded guilty to charge of driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. He estimated it would have taken Tranter's vehicle between 223m and 242m to come to a complete stop at that speed. Munro's vehicle was less than 100m ahead when he turned out of a side-street.
