In 2019, Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia’s prime minister, received the Nobel Peace Prize. And even though Ahmed released political prisoners, including journalists, when he became prime minister, in 2018, members of the press are once more facing punishment. There was a lot of hysteria, a lot of enthusiasm and happiness around the Peace Prize. That is how the international media functions. The international media is confronted with a reality that we have been trying to highlight for a while.
