Ministry of Finance has set out its treasury bill auction calendar for the first quarter of 2026, with total planned issuance of 288.28 bln birr across six biweekly auctions. Auctions are scheduled for 8 and 21 January, 4 and 18 February, and 4 and 18 March. Bills will be offered in four maturities: 28, 91, 182, and 364 days, with individual auction sizes ranging between 44.3 bln birr and 53.3 bln birr. With the Ethiopian birr trading near 155 against the US dollar, the programme represents approximately 1.86 bln US dollars. Treasury bills continue to provide low-risk investment opportunities in Ethiopia’s evolving financial landscape.
