Mainland smartphone camera module maker Q Technology (1478) said the sales volume of camera modules grew by 3.4 percent from a year ago, or 19.8 percent month-on-month, to 39.19 million units in April. The total sales volume of camera modules of 32 megapixels and above surged by 87 percent year-on-year, while sales of those with 8 megapixels and below slumped by 49.6 percent. Total sales volume of fingerprint recognition modules grew by 17 percent year-on-year, a 3.2 percent increase compared with a month ago. The month-on-month increase in sales volume of camera module products was mainly attributable to the effect of customers’ product cycle and the resumption of work of the enterprises and gradual recovery in demand. For camera modules of 10 megapixels and above, and products of 32 megapixels and above, the increase was mainly a result of the group’s strategy of optimizing product specifications.
