Harjit Singh invoked a sunset clause on a subdivision he was developing that may cost Mandy Cook her dream home. Now, as a property developer, his character is again being questioned by a group of people whose building plans are in limbo. That’s because on May 2, the developer, Gulati Investments (2013) Ltd, cancelled Cook’s sale and purchase agreement, and six others. On May 2, Gulati Investments cancelled their contracts. Property law expert Joanna Pidgeon said developers’ “cynical use” of the sunset clause had increased in the past 18 months.
