Pumps deployed as Christchurch prepares for Cyclone Debbie

Pumps deployed as Christchurch prepares for Cyclone DebbieHeavy rain has already brought floods and landslides to the North Island. Temporary water pumps are being set up in parts of the city as the tail end of Cyclone Debbie approaches. The pumps were stationed on Warrington St, in the flood-prone Flockton area, the Christchurch City Council said. The Flockton area was "always going to have some flood risk", but any issues now were expected to be at a much lower level, he said. Davison said he wanted to err on the side of caution so the council had deployed extra pumps.
