BEIJING: Proton cars assembled at its Pakistan assembly plant in Karachi are expected to hit the roads in 2020. This is part of the vision of the government - and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in particular - to see the automaker grow and expand its overseas market. According to Loke, Malaysia would continue in efforts to export more cars, adding that Pakistan would be a good market to start with. The Prime Minister is in China for a five-day working visit which includes attending the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The plant in Karachi will be Proton's first factory in the South Asian region.
