Protests continue for second day after 62-year-old man fatally shot by Peel police following mental-health call

Protesters gathered for an emotional rally Monday outside the Malton apartment building where a 62-year-old man was fatally shot by Peel police officers Saturday following a call for a mental-health crisis. Describing him as gentle and devout, Choudhary said his uncle was frail — suffering from chronic lung disease and diabetes. His nephew said Choudry had moved to Canada 30 years ago seeking “a better life,”“He wanted to live his life for his kids,” his nephew said. “I can assure you that the Choudry family will never be the same,” he said. “The only solace we can take in his death, is using the situation for achieving accountability, for saving another Ejaz Choudry.”
