Protesters who looted and damaged property in some parts of the country are criminals of the outlawed gangs, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed. The gang, Gachagua claimed, had been hired to help cause chaos, vandalism and destroy property while disguising as persons demonstrating over the cost of living. "Those who burnt shops and caused destruction in Kitengela are members of a criminal group," Gachagua said. Speaking at Naibor in Laikipia, Gachagua also questioned what human rights the Azimio leaders were fighting for since the protests led to the deaths of seven people, looting of shops and destruction of property. The Wednesday's protests, he said, saw seven people lose their lives with the economy suffering a loss of at least Sh3 billion.
