North Korea was on the verge of developing intercontinental nuclear missile capability. If either North Korea or Iran were to cross the threshold to becoming a nuclear weapons State, nervous neighbours would surely follow them. Trump also inherited today’s prevailing NP narrative: look at what has happened to leaders who did not have nuclear weapons. This is where North Korea comes in. If Trump eventually succeeds with North Korea and Iran, history may show that India crossed the nuclear threshold just in time.
