KUANTAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today obtained a five-day remand order against a 53-year-old private college managing director to facilitate a bribery probe over the issuance of certificates to students. He arrived at the Kuantan Court complex about 10am before Magistrate Nordiana Abd Aziz granted the remand order against him until Oct 4. Counsel Datuk Ng See Teong, who represented the suspect, said the remand order was issued following an application made by MACC's prosecuting officer Kamariah Seman. He said it was submitted on the grounds that the man had issued certificates to students that allowed them to pursue their studies in the medical fields abroad. It is learnt that the suspect had allegedly received a sum of cash amounting around RM2,500 each from aspiring medical students for the certificates.
