On Oct 19, two BCIC college students were physically assaulted by men, who were upset when the girls protested eve-teasing. The incident triggered protests by the students of the college who took to the streets. “It was then that two young men, Jiban and ‘Lutfar’ began to harass them. When they objected, the boys attacked them.”Within hours of the incident police had arrested Lutfar Rahman Babu from the area . Lutfar Rahman Babu was one of the perpetrators of the attack and was Jiban’s friend , local police's Sub Inspector Anuj Kumar Sarkar had said at the time.
