She said this chairing a meeting of the Awami League Presidium at her Ganabhaban residence on Friday afternoon. The prime minister said: “Building owners and users will have to take appropriate measures about overall safety to check accidents, including fires.”In this connection, Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League president, instructed government agencies to step up vigilance about the overall safety of life and property. “Special attention will also have to be given to raise mass awareness to this end,” she added. The prime minister thanked all concerned, including the Fire Service and Civil Defence, armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and the students of various educational institutions, for playing a courageous and effective role in the inferno of FR Tower at Banani in the capital, on Thursday.
