Sensitive documents containing details of the prime minister’s travel plans were left on a train in a major security breach. The detailed schedule, which included the address of a hotel in which Theresa May would be working, was found by a passenger and handed to the Daily Mirror. The documents, which outlined plans for a call to Jens Stoltenberg, the Nato secretary -general and arrangements for a “treasurers’ dinner” in Altrincham, were found in the first-class carriage of a train heading for Edinburgh.
