President: do not reignite controversy over settled matter of Hasina’s resignation

The resignation, the dissolution of parliament and the legitimacy of the interim government have been resolved by an Appellate Division order, he saysPresident Mohammed Shahabuddin has urged the public to avoid creating a fresh controversy over an issue that has been settled in the wake of the debate surrounding former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation. A statement issued by the Bangabhaban's Press Wing on Monday quoted him as asking everyone to refrain from ‘destabilising or embarrassing’ the interim government by creating any dispute. Hasina fled to India on Aug 5 amid the mass student-led uprising, ending the 15-year rule of the Awami League. It said that the campaigns carried out in the media quoting the president over the former prime minister's resignation have created confusion among the public. Bangabhaban said the Appellate Division passed the order in line with Article 106 of the Constitution when the president had sought it on Aug 8.
