“We should wait a while, it is not appropriate to comment [on the development] at this time,” Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry told BBC. In the absence of a formal government machinery [in Kabul], a framework was needed where both Pakistan and Afghanistan could discuss bilateral issues, he said. “We have been facing serious problems with Afghanistan, including the expansion of ISIS, the refugee problem and the TTP’s [Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan] migration from Afghanistan. “We have been in talks with the Taliban and Pakistan also facilitated their talks with the United States,” he recalled. The minister asserted there was no military solution to the Afghanistan question and recalled Pakistan had been trying, however unsuccessfully, to convince the world [to quit Afghanistan] as early as 2007.
