Nowhere is this reality more visible than in the United States, where capitalism has produced astonishing prosperity alongside extreme concentration of wealth. It is here that capitalism, paradoxically, often produces its most noble outcomes. This was not the rejection of capitalism, but its final evolution—capital redirected from accumulation to social investment. In effect, capitalism would be financing its own social correction. In theory, it is a virtuous cycle: wealth creates opportunity; opportunity creates productivity; productivity sustains growth.
