The quake hit as Mexican emergency agencies were bracing for another crisis on the other side of the country. He said the unconfirmed death occurred in San Marcos state near the border with Mexico. The new quake matched the force of a magnitude 8.1 quake that hit the country on June 3, 1932, roughly 500 kilometers west of Mexico City.
