Power supply will increase by 2000 megawatts as the Federal Government of Nigeria Power Company and other stakeholders involved in the Presidential Power Initiative currently await the arrival of the first two energy transformers to be delivered by Siemens Energy. A top industry source, who preferred not to be named, told The PUNCH on Monday that parties in the project, including the FGN Power Company, were committed to its delivery. This, according to the source, would boost supply to households and businesses, thus enhancing productivity in the nation’s economy. Aliyu and the Minister of Finance/Board Chair, FGN Power Company, Zainab Ahmed, had also presented a memo to the Federal Executive Council requesting approval for the procurement of 10 power transformers and 10 mobile substations under the Presidential Power Initiative which was recently approved. “Also, I am confident that the Presidential Power Initiative will deliver on its objectives of providing electricity to households and businesses across the country.”
